Where We Started

Veterans of Comedy was founded in 2014 by veteran comedians Will C. and Erik Knowles with a simple mission: bring laughter to the men and women in uniform and help bridge the gap between military service and civilian life—using comedy as the foundation of that bridge. With the motto “No Laugh Left Behind,” the group has grown to nearly 30 veteran comedians representing all five branches of the U.S. military and has performed across the country (and beyond) for audiences who understand that sometimes the best medicine is a room full of people laughing together.

Will C’s own background as a veteran and long-time road comic is baked into the brand—his comedy career spans decades, with performances at clubs, colleges, and military bases, and a resume that reflects both entertainment and service.

Building on that proven mission and community impact, Will C has launched the Veterans of Comedy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to give back through comedy—turning shows and events into real support for veterans and their families.

What the Foundation supports (through events, partnerships, and fundraising):

• Suicide prevention and mental health awareness

• Helping veterans restructure and transition back into civilian life

• Supporting families of veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice

• Additional veteran-focused causes based on community needs

This isn’t just talk—we believe laughter can open the door to connection, conversations, and healing. And the Veterans of Comedy brand already has a track record of mission work: since 2016, Veterans of Comedy has partnered with Veterans Community Project (VCP) and raised funds to support their tiny home community and ongoing awareness efforts. VCP’s model is built around dignity and stability—small, thoughtfully designed tiny homes and wraparound case management that helps veterans move forward.
